Insurance is a sunrise sector in India. Its prospects are brighter than ever before.

While the Corona pandemic highlighted the inadequate insurance coverage for health, general and life coverage, the recent budget announcement to increase Foreign Direct Investment limit from 49 to 74% will provide a much needed boost to the industry. Greater availability of capital in the sector will lead to further expansion in the market and products. Recent acceleration in adoption of digital technology in acquiring, serving and retaining customers has opened new possibilities. This greater competition will benefit the consumers and augurs well for the long-term prospects of the industry.

In sunrise industries, ambitious business leaders are championing the idea of “aspire ten times higher” and leading their companies in terms of extent and speed. They are rethinking business models, distribution, and cost innovation. CEOs are spending more time with one another within and across industries; insurance CXOs are learning from the pharmaceuticals sector on analytics and distribution, and from high tech regarding distribution and agility.
